Disaster Planning and Recovery Management Seminar Planned

On Wednesday, October 1st area businesses and governments will come together at the Disaster Management Seminar to share lessons learned from the tandem natural disasters of summer 2008, and discuss preventative solutions.

ACES, Lincoln Savings Bank, PDCM Insurance and Butler County are co-sponsoring this Disaster Management Seminars for Wednesday, Oct. 1 with two sessions.  The first session runs from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.  The second session focuses more on government and schools and will begin at 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Seating is limited and pre-registration is required by calling ACES at 319-553-0841.

The purpose of the Disaster Management Seminar is to help equip local business, county government, and school administrators to remain operational and mitigate informational, physical, and financial loss in the event of a natural, mechanical, or man made disaster particularly in the areas of technology and data storage.

Discussions will cover comprehensive planning from preparing a business continuity plan, reviewing insurance coverage and transference of risk options, data backup, and ways to stay operational during a disaster. Scheduled participants include; Alan Mckean of the American Red Cross, Mike McCrary of Lincoln Savings Bank, Chris Fereday of PDCM, Trevor Hendrickson of theWEBcentric, and Felicia Cass of ACES . Representatives from IBM will also be on hand to answer questions about data backup using virtualization and continuity services such as complete, temporary office set ups.

Government agencies and school administrators  are invited to attend the free luncheon Wednesday, Oct 1, 2008 11:30 am - 1:00 pm Ferrari's Private Dinning Room; Park Place Event Center which  will feature Butler County's Sara Trepp, MIS Manager, recounting their experience in dealing with this summer's EF5 tornado and flooding. A tour of Team Technology Data Center immediately following seminar.
